Bin-censed Ochilmount man lodges complaint

-

Bannockburn residents have described the new system as a“fiasco”.

Jim Reid says the large blue bins at Ochilmount have been out since 7am on October 28 and email correspondence with the council has now resulted in his submitting a formal complaint.

At first officials had said the service was“running behind”and would get to the blue bins when resources were available. They added that there had been difficulties because of some householders still being on the old system and some on the new and things would improve.

However, Mr Reid said:“I only seem to get excuses every time I highlight problems. I was sick to the teeth of hearing about getting new bins and collection info, which we were told about all year. I take it forward planning does not come into anyone’s equation? Why, after so much publicity all year, do we still have bins on the street for days?”

Officials had also told Mr Reid that while the service had been advertised for the last year the rollout was a“large and unprecedented”operation for the service and liable to“teething problems”. They apologies and asked him to be patient“for a little longer”to allow the rollout to settle down.

Mr Reid added:“I spent a number of years in logistics division and I suggest that a severe lack of groundwork, pre and forward planning seems to be the root cause and i suggest they address this as a matter of urgency.”
