Local scenes bring festive joy

-

Impressive festive artwork designed by pupils from St Mary’s Episcopal Primary is now on sale in Dunblane post office.

Creative youngsters have been hard at work crafting Christmas cards which reference some of the best-known sights in their hometown.

Local spots such as the Dunblane Hydro, Faery Bridge and Andy Murray’s golden postbox are among those included in the artwork – all of which has been designed with a special festive twist.

A variety of photo cards depicting a snowy Dunblane have also been created by pupils at the school.

Profits from the sale of the work will go towards enhancing the school’s outdoor learning facilities.

Headteacher Heather White reckons the artwork project is the perfect way to develop both business and design abilities.

She said:“It is all part of our understanding of local history and it provided the children with an excellent opportunity to develop their art and enterprise skills.”

Post office manager Tahir Bhatti said:“Cards with pictures of Dunblane are always in demand, from both local residents and visitors looking to send a greeting to friends and family.

“With our longer opening hours, up to 5.30pm on weekdays and 2.30pm on Saturdays it’s easier for customers to drop in and buy these iconic and unique Christmas cards”.

His daughter Sabah, who also works in the office, added:“They have been on sale since last week and they are doing really well. They look good next to our other Christmas stock too.”
