Council should sort out ‘mish mash’ of parking policies

-

I, like many readers and residents within our community, have been viewing with interest the latest saga involving parking and the decriminalisation of parking enforcement.

I refer to the article in the Stirling Observer (November 2, 2016) headed ‘Parking farce is to continue’. Yet again, Stirling Council is in disarray. The new refuse system is still not working and the parking problems continue.

Our community suffers parking problems like every other so why don’t the council get their act together instead of being responsible for this absolute mish mash?

Someone needs to remind the council that they should support residents and use their time and resources to ensure high profile initiatives run smoothly.

Motorists will have a field day knowing there is no enforcement and traders park outside their premises, which happens every day in Bridge of Allan.

No point ringing the police as I did yesterday ( November 2, 2016) at 12.30pm. I rang 101 and reported a large Transit van parked over the pavement on yellow lines, causing an obstruction. I had to walk on the road as it blocked the pavement.

I took a photograph. The control room rang back approximately two hours later saying they didn’t have anyone to attend. It was still there at that time.

Where are our community officers who are supposed to be out and about in the community?

I say to Stirling Council that these are the problems facing residents all over. It is time they did something about it .

Douglas Dodds, Chairman, Bridge of Allan Community Council
