Stenhousemuir’s strong second-half helped them earned the points in this FVFDA U16 League match on Saturday.

Athletic started brightly and were rewarded after 10 minutes when a Lewis Morrow shot came off the post straight to Kobe Furzer who gratefully passed it into the net.

however when a cross from the left saw Stenny nab the equaliser.

In a closely contested first half it was the home side who went ahead again five minutes before half time when a poor clearance from the keeper saw the ball come out to Sam McMeechan who shot into the empty net from the edge of the box.

Again Athletic switched off and Stenny equalised a minute later when a cross from the left found their striker unmarked to head home.

Stenhousemuir’s fiveman midfield dominated the second half driving through the middle to go ahead midway through the second half. They killed the game with two goals in two minutes, the first from a well struck free kick and the second a rebound following a fine save from Kyle Middleton.

Riverside rallied to pull one back with five minutes to go when tenacious play on the right wing from Arin Cummings saw his cross turned in at the back post from Garry Laird. Just as Athletic were setting up for a grandstand finish, Stenny finished off with a sixth for a deserved victory.
