Years of hard work, determination and dedication have seen Andy Murray soar to the summit of the ATP rankings.

And next week, he’ll have to keep that up when he goes into the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at The O2 in London.

It’s not just Andy but his big brother Jamie who will be fighting to become the year-end No 1 as he and Brazilian partner Bruno Soares tussle with French duo Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut for top spot.

He went to No 1 on Saturday afternoon at the Paris Masters when semi-final opponent Milos Raonic pulled out through injury - 24 hours after Novak Djokovic had gone down in the quarter-final to Marin Cilic.

John Isner then beat Cilic to set up Sunday’s final which Murray won 6-3 6-7 6-4, Some words more and more SEE PAGE xx

At The O2, Andy has to match Djokovic’s performance in London to retain the No 1 spot while Jamie and Bruno have to better Herbert and Mahut to land the accolade.

In the singles event, Andy’s group opponents are Stan Wawrinka, Kei Nishikori and his first match will be against Marin Cilic on Tuesday.

The other group features Djokovic, Milos Raonic, Gael Monfils and Dominic Thiem.

The Dunblane ace has never reached the ATP World Tour final, losing in the semi-finals three times and success would mean he would become the first Briton to win the event and secure yearend No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Rankings for the first time.

In the doubles, Jamie and Bruno are in the same group as Bob and Mike Bryan, Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo and their first opponents Treat Huey and Max Mirnyi.
