Next meeting is on Monday, November 14 in the McLintock Hall at 7.30pm. The speaker is Shirley Thornley the topic is“Colour and Style”. Please bring along some favourite scarves. Competitio­n: a scarf, and a jar of chutney (named).

Next meeting is on Tuesday, November 15 at 7.30pm in the community centre .The speaker is Rock‘n’Reel fitness fun with Tricia Chillas. Competitio­ns: three rock cakes and fitness tip. Bennie will advise on Roman Blinds. The Birthday Quaich competitio­n is for three pieces of millionair­e shortbread.Visitors welcome.

President Anne Artis extended a warm welcome to members and friends. The speaker for the evening was Sue Everett from Perth who told the audience of her sewing journey and how her business had evolved and grown.

She demonstrat­ed how to make fabric flowers and brought along a selection of her different crafts to sell. Competitio­ns: homemade Christmas decoration - 1 Elizabeth Dykes; 2 Catriona Burnett; 3 Janice Oman. Favourite bauble - 1 Liz Black; 2 Catriona Burnett; 3 Janice Oman. A delicious supper was provided by Sheenagh Beaton, Norma Brewster and Christine Hamilton. The Christmas theme continues tomorrow (Saturday) with Anne Artis running a Christmas Craft Day in Ruskie Hall.

Thornhill At the meeting at 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 16, Louise Cross will demonstrat­e the making of Christmas decoration­s. It will be helpful if some members brought along a pair of secateurs. Payment for diaries and calendars will be collected at this meeting. Competitio­ns: a small home-made Christmas stocking and a tree bauble.
