Authors will present a literary box of delights

Book Week takes place later this month and some top authors are heading to Stirling to take part in the national celebratio­n of books and reading.

Eight great events will be held at venues across the area, providing a literary box of delights with something for people of all ages to enjoy.

BBC Scotland presenter Theresa Talbot will be talking about moving into the world of becoming an author. She will be appearing at Forth Valley College in Raploch on November 23 at 3pm.

Staff from Stirling Archives will be helping visitors delve into the their house’s past at a special event in Borrowmead­ow Road on November 25 at 2pm. They will be running an in-depth session on how to research the history of your house (or any other building) as part of Stirling’s Book Week Scotland and the UK wide ‘Explore Your Archive’ initiative.

Using original records, the archivists will show you in detail how to get on the house history trail and you will get the chance to handle and view architects drawings of local buildings and see other records that help build up a picture of the history of our built environmen­t.

Alan Bisset will be appearing at Dunblane Library on November 21 at 2pm. He is well-known for novels such as Boyracers (2001), The Incredible Adam Spark (2005), Death of a Ladies’ Man (2009) and Pack Men (2011).

Tom Leonard, William Letford and Rosanne Watt will host an evening of poetry at the Tolbooth on November 22 (7.30pm) and Sue Lawrence will discuss her book, The Night He Left, at St Ninains Library the same day at 10.30am.
