Workers in the pink after charity’s boost

-

Tilhill Forestry, based in Stirling, has raised £2,330 for Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity working in Scotland.

The firm showed their support for the charity by holding a wear it pink fundraising event at their head office in Stirling recently.

Staff were encouraged to come dressed to work in their boldest pink clothes and there was a bake sale, games and a competition to guess how many sweets were in the jar.

The main event was a raffle to win a much sought-after carving of an eagle by champion chainsaw carver and Tilhill Harvesting Manager, Peter Bowsher.

The eagle alone raised £956 to help fund life-saving breast cancer research and was won by Elaine Drennan, District Administrator Tilhill from Dumfries.

Approximately 120 Tilhill Forestry staff took part in the fundraising event, raising £1,165, which was matched by the company to take the total amount to £2,330. A Tilhill Forestry spokesperson said:“We selected the charity as we have a number of employees who have experienced breast cancer. “We want to contribute to funding research into the disease. “Our staff were really keen to take part . We would like to thank everyone who attended and gave so generously to fund vital breast cancer research.” Niamh Crawford, community engagement officer at Breast Cancer thanked the staff at Tilhill.
