FEDERATION The AGM will take place in Bridge of Allan Church Hall on Saturday November 26 at 10.30am when all institutes should be represente­d.

The competitio­ns area: Cath McBryne Trophy is a knitted hat and scar any ply; The West Lothian Salver is a smiddy loaf (recipe has been given); McLay Trophy is a five-line limerick, theme Christmas.

Entries should be in place by 9.30am to allow for judging. At 2pm there will be a short business resume before Jackie Foley will give a talk entitled‘J’Accessoriz­e’ followed by afternoon tea. BUCHLYVIE President Mary Benns welcomed a good turnout of members, friends and visitors to the November meeting.

After business was dealt with the president introduced the speakers for the evening Gillian and Mary from Lakeland. A most interestin­g and entertaini­ng evening followed as we learned about the origins of the company, tried to guess the purpose of some strange kitchen gadgets and enjoyed a taste of some delicious chocolate. Competitio­n winners: Favourite umbrella - 1 Margaret Sparkes, 2 Lynsey Thomson, 3 Muriel Holroyd; Healthy Supper dish - 1 Mary Benns, 2 Lynsey Thomson, 3 Margaret Sparkes. The next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday December 13 in the Village Hall. Come in party mode. CROFTAMIE Croftamie SWI had a good turnout of members to their November meeting to watch demo/talk by Alan of Spadeworks plant up a winter/summer basket.

This was enjoyed by all and he kindly donated his expenses towards the Stroke Associatio­n charity we were helping towards that week; many thanks. Competitio­n results: Sewn Oven Gloves, 1 Chris Bilsl and 2 Mary MacDonald; Six Peppermint Creams, 1 Louise McIntyre, 2 Serena Allan, 3 Agnes McQueen; Floral Arrangemen­t in Soup Can, 1 Mary MacDonald, 2 Carole Young, 3 Serena Allan. Any members/friends that haven’t as yet put in their menu choices for the Christmas dinner at the Wayfayrers on December 7. Please contact Chris or Carole. The“Give a hand bake day”Stroke Associatio­n Awareness Week Bake stall and Just giving page organised by members Jodie Allan and Louise McIntyre raised an amazing total of £1500. A huge thank you to all who kindly donated, baked, bought. We are hoping that a presentati­on of acknowledg­ement cheque will be presented at the Christmas dinner on December 7. GARGUNNOCK Kathleen the president welcomed everyone to the meeting and after business was finished she introduced our speaker who was Tricia Chillas , Rock and Reel.

Tricia introduced herself and told us her background and how she had started Rock and Reel. She goes to residentia­l homes to give the elderly people exercise as some of them cannot get about very easily and it helps to keep them mobile. It is mostly sitting down exercises.

We all thought it would be easy but she really put us through our paces although there was nothing too strenuous. There was a lot of laughter and singing as the exercises are all done to music and everyone enjoyed themselves. We then enjoyed a lovely tea.
