Murrays’ Davisbid tokickoff inCanada

-

The Murray brothers will get their Davis Cup season underway in Canada at the start of next year.

Ottawa was announced this week as the venue for the first round tie, which takes place between February 3 and 5.

Speaking on the announcement, Aegon GB Davis Cup Captain Leon Smith said: “It’s good to know the venue for the upcoming tie and we are looking forward to playing in Ottawa.

“This now allows us to kick into gear with the next stage of our planning for the tie the week after the Australian Open.

“It will be a challenging travel schedule for both teams coming straight after Melbourne, with us and the Canadians hopefully having players going deep in the tournament.

“We had another great run in 2016 and the team are as motivated as ever to get back together as we start this campaign.”

This season, Britain lost out in the semis to Argentina having won the cup in 2015. Stirling County members showed their generosity on a recent matchday.

At the Ladies Day Charity Lunch before the Stirling County versus Watsonians match on October 15, £2500 was raised for Strathcarron Hospice.

And a representative from the charity headed to Bridgehaugh to gratefully accept the donation.
