Rohan hungry to pass on tips after test on TV

Chef impresses on Masterchef the Professionals

- Gareth Jones

Forth Valley College chef Rohan Wadke appeared on BBC’s Masterchef the Professionals last week.

Rohan (35) impressed judges Gregg Wallace, Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti, with his culinary skills but just missed out on appearing in the next round of the competition.

During the first round, Michelin starred chef Marcus described Rohan’s dish as ‘probably one of the best skills tests I’ve eaten on Masterchef ’ after contestants were tasked with recreating a sauce maltaise asparagus and poached egg.

In time honoured tradition of the programme, Rohan’s place of work was featured heavily in his introduction with the Gallery Restaurant at the college’s Stirling Campus training kitchens and views to the Wallace Monument being shown in the episode.

After a career working for restaurants such the Cinamon Club in London and hotels such as The London Hilton, the Grand Central in Glasgow and various Hyatt hotels in India, Rohan moved back to Glasgow with wife Mrunalini and threeyear-old son Vihan last year.

He joined FVC last summer and works three days at the Bistro at the Raploch Campus and two days at the Gallery Restaurant at the Stirling Campus. Rohan, said: “Masterchef offers a great opportunity for any chef in the UK to cook their best dishes and learn from that. It has been a great experience and I’m really proud of my work on the show.

“I really enjoy it here at the college and I would just like to thank all my colleagues and my head of department Diane Creed for their help, support and encouragement. I hope to pass on what I have learned on Masterchef to the next generation of chefs.”
