Groups and businesses pledge support for gift appeal

Making a difference this Christmas

- Kaiya Marjoribanks

Port of Menteith School Parents Council are the latest kind hearted bunch to pledge their support for the Stirling Observer‘Give A Gift Appeal’.

The school has agreed to be one of the local drop off points for the gifts.

However, given that this is such a busy time of year for the school, the parents council is understandably hoping to manage the drop-off to ensure things don’t get too hectic.

Anyone who has a child at the school can send in their present with their child.

However, people from the local community are also welcome to drop off gifts - preferably between 9.15am and 9.30am.

Housebuilders Stewart Milne Homes has also joined the effort, and is collecting gifts and toys at their development The Courtyard, Maurice Wynd, in Dunblane (marketing suite, Thursday to Monday from 10.30am5.30pm) and also Hunter’s Meadow, Hunter Street, in Auchterarder (marketing suite, Thursday to Monday 10.30am-5.30pm).

Lorraine Paterson, sales and marketing director at Stewart Milne Homes, said: “We are proud to support the Stirling Observer’s Give A Gift Appeal to ensure that every child has a gift to open on Christmas morning.

We would encourage people in Stirling and surrounding areas to help those in need this Christmas by donating gifts for the fantastic charities working hard throughout the year to support children of all ages. Our sales representatives are on hand to collect donations at our local showhomes and are welcoming gifts of all sizes.”

The Give A Gift Appeal aims to donate new toys and gifts to sick, needy and vulnerable children at Christmas with the help of a number of local charities and good causes.

Observer reporter Kaiya Marjoribanks said: “Over the years people have been incredibly generous and this year appears to be no exception. While it is a massive undertaking we are only too pleased to be able to play our part, particularly when we receive feedback from the charities and hear just how this helps them to give the children they support a much better Christmas than they may otherwise have had.”

As well as Stirling Women’s Aid, others involved include: Stirling Council Social Services; Cultenhove Opportunities; Stirling Young Carers; Aberlour; Home-Start Stirling; PLUS; Cornton Vale Family Centre and Help Hub; and foodbank charity Start-Up Stirling. We are also happy to hear from other charities and causes who may not have been involved so far or consider one off requests.
