A Stirling apprentice has won a top prize after completing the fourth year of a training programme.

Building services and maintenance modern apprentice Stephen Lewis, 22, and his classmates have been working with Stirling-based FES FM and attending the college’s Alloa Campus.

Stephen and Patrick Carty, 21, from Tillydrone, Aberdeen, were presented with high specification cordless drills by Richard Welsh of FES after being chosen as the best performing MAs of the year.

Stephen said: “This is the second time I have won an apprentice of the year award while with FES FM.

“I have definitely improved and I am looking forward to completing my training and becoming fully qualified in May.

“I would encourage anyone to take a look at this modern apprenticeship programme with FES FM and Forth Valley College as the facilities and the staff are great and the training gives you a great foundation.

“If you get the head down, get stuck in and ask loads of questions you will do well.”

Mr Welsh of FES said: “We are delighted with the progress of these two groups of modern apprentices as they work towards becoming fully trained engineers with FES FM.

“The feedback we receive from the MAs regarding the training centre at the Alloa Campus, is extremely positive.”

The partnership between the college and FES FM created a new centre to train up to 12 MAs – at least six of whom will be from the Forth Valley area - to SVQ level three standard over four years.
