Doune storm ahead in the Challenge Cup
Weir are their latest casualty during Moray Park clash
Doune swept aside Weirs to record a convincing win at Moray Park and advance to the Challenge Cup second round on Saturday.
Recent signing James Graham opened the scoring in seven minutes when he gathered the ball just inside the Weirs half. From some 30 yards out, he rocketed an unstoppable drive into the net at the postage stamp corner.
Doune made it 2-0 after 28 minutes when Lukasz Duszynski dribbled inside and slipped the ball to Niall McClure who showed great determination to reach the ball just ahead of the centre back to drive the ball high into the net from 16 yards.
The same pairing combined to make it 3-0. Duszynski found McClure and he drove low into the left hand corner from 14 yards.
It was Duszynski’s turn to score in 41 minutes. Paul Statter sent him clear and the winger calmly lobbed the keeper to place the ball in the top corner.
Weirs started the second half determined to claw their way back into the game and Malcolm Scott brought off a fine save, leaping high to push a chip shot from 25 yards round the left hand post.
Doune pressed forward and the fifth goal came after 62 minutes. McClure cut the ball back to Duszynski and his shot was cleared off the line.
The ball rebounded to Chris Ogilvie ansd he smashed the ball high into the unguarded net.
Weirs tried manfully to get something from the game and keepr Scott denied them with an outstanding save and from the resultant corner, Jonny Burns cleared off the line at the left hand post.
Six minutes before full time, Statter came close with a drive from 25 yards as Doune finished well on top.
