Ross: Let’s deliver some festive cheer

Crucial games ahead

- David Ogilvie

Stirling Albion assistant manager Ross Forsyth admits the team face three massive games between now and the turn of the year.

The Binos entertain Annan at Forthbank tomorrow, travel to Montrose on Christmas Eve and host Cowdenbeath on Hogmanay as they bid to climb off the foot of the Ladbrokes League 2 table.

Last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Edinburgh City means Stirling are 42nd out of 42 in the SPFL and badly need a win against Annan this weekend. They went down 3-2 at Galabank on the opening day and that result set the tone for a campaign which has seen far too many goals conceded and brought only three wins from 15 matches.

Annan were beaten 5-1 at leaders Forfar on Tuesday night and are fifth in the table but Albion will move to within two points of Jim Chapman’s men if they come out on top.

Forsyth, who missed training on Tuesday due to the sickness bug that has affected a number of the squad, said: “We have three big games coming up between now and January and we need to pick up points.

“The league has almost split in two at the moment with the top four clear of the pack and nothing much between the rest. We are capable of beating anyone on our day but we have been too inconsistent.

“It wasn’t good enough against Edinburgh City last week - we weren’t ruthless enough at either end of the park. If you look again at their first goal on the video it was something like seven of our players against three of them but they still managed to carve us open. We need to work on our shape and be harder to beat.
