- Gareth Jones

A Wee County pub faces an uncertain future after a festive break-in.

The Red Lion in Tillicoultry was brokeninto in the early hours of Monday morning (December 19).

Two men were spotted on CCTV making off with takings from the pub. Staff have said the break-in threatens the bar’s future, and believed the two males captured may be from the local area.

The pub have also offered a £200 cash reward for any information that helps to track down those responsible.

A spokesman for the pub said: “Two people gained access to the property and robbed it of the takings. We firmly believe these people are not only local, but know and possibly even drink in the premises.

“This incident has placed the business at risk from closure which could lead to local people losing their jobs. We are now asking for the local communities help and support to bring these people to justice.

“We are offering a cash reward of £200 for information that leads to the arrest of one or more of the people who committed this crime. We believe the people will be well known in the local area.”

Police have been made aware of the break-in and said they are investigating. A spokeswoman said: “At around 1am on December 19, two people broke in to the Red Lion public house and stole a quantity of cash.

“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to get in touch with police by calling 101.”
