Ashe signs new Warriors contract
Back from injury
Scotland international Adam Ashe has signed a new two-year contract with Glasgow Warriors, keeping him at Scotstoun until at least 2019.
Ashe returned from injury at the weekend, playing in Ayr’s defeat by Melrose.
The 23-year-old has played 29 times for Glasgow, his last appearance coming against Connacht in the Guinness Pro12 play-off last season.
He has played six times for Scotland, covering every position in the back-row, since making his debut against South Africa in 2014.
Adam, who started his rugby career at Stirling County, is now drafted to BT Premiership side Ayr.
In 2013 he spent six months in New Zealand as part of the Macphail Scholarship, benefiting from the programme that also helped develop Jonny Gray and Finn Russell.
The Warriors announcement follows the signing of fellow back-rowers Matt Smith and Lewis Wynne.
Stuart Hogg, Henry Pyrgos and Greg Peterson have also committed their futures to the club in recent weeks.
Speaking to Glasgowwarriors.org, Adam said: “It’s a brilliant feeling to extend my contract and stay on with the club.
“Glasgow Warriors is a fantastic environment and I’m surrounded by great players, great coaches and great fans so it was an easy decision for me to make.
“As a club it is really taking off. We’ve just had two good wins in Europe and it’s exciting to be a part of something that is moving in the right direction.”
Head coach Gregor Townsend said: “Adam has become an important member of our squad after coming through our academy system.
“He has a really good attitude and has worked hard to come back from his injuries fitter than ever and we’re all excited about seeing him back on the pitch in a Glasgow shirt soon.”
