Start new year with a career change

Advice will be available at the start of the new year for people looking to change career.

Advisers will be on hand at Skills Developmen­t Scotland’s centres in Stirling, Alloa and Falkirk from January 4 for anyone looking for free, impartial guidance.

Susan McCurry, careers adviser at the Stirling centre, said:“New Year’s a time to reflect on your achievemen­ts, and start thinking ahead to where you want to go next.

“Our careers advisers can support you to look at what you want to do, whether it’s taking a leap into a new job, moving to another industry, or progressin­g in your current role.

“We can talk through why you want to make a change and think about setting goals and timescales.

“We can also support you to get the most out of our career informatio­n web service My World of Work’s tools and resources.

“It’s not just in January we can offer support, whatever age you are and whatever stage your career is at, SDS advisers are here to support you, so drop in and see us when it suits you for free, impartial advice.”

SDS is the national skills body and has careers advisers in every state secondary school in Scotland as well as in its network of careers centres.

They have centres are at 66 Upper Craigs, Stirling; 39-43 Bank Street, Alloa, and 100 Manor Street, Falkirk.

The SDS team in Forth Valley also posts regular updates on events and opportunit­ies in the area on their Facebook page at SDS Forth Valley.
