Time to decide on Clacks grants

- Robert Fairnie

Wee County residents are being invited to select local projects for funding.

Community councils in Clackmannanshire have organised events where members of the public can decide which projects they feel should scoop a share of Community Matters cash.

A total of £100,000 has been set aside for projects in the area and in the grant stage of Community Matters applications totalling more than £200,000 were received.

Council leader Bobby McGill said: “It has been great to see bids to Community Matters coming in for a wide variety of projects, looking for amounts from £800 to £10,000.

“Now that local groups have made their grant applications, we need local people to turn up to the events and tell us which projects best meet the needs of their area.

“As well as finding out which projects are the priorities for funding we are looking forward to finding out what residents think about having this new role and we hope people turning up at these events will help tell us that.”

Events will take place on: January 14, 11am-3pm, Devonvale Hall, Tillicoultry; January 18, 6- 7pm, Clackmannan Town Hall; January 26, 7-9pm, Dollar Civic Centre; January 21, 10am-noon, Alva Parish Church Hall; January 21, 2-4pm, Alloa Town Hall; January 28, 1-4pm, Dumyat Centre, Menstrie; January 28, Muckhart Parish Church hall; January 28, 11am-3pm, Sauchie Hall; January 28, noon-3, Tullibody Civic Centre.

Community Matters is funded by Clackmannanshire Council and the Community Choices Fund.
