Cabbie hails Sir Andy by penning a poetic tribute

-

A taxi driver has penned a personal tribute to Sir Andy Murray.

Glasgow cabbie Stef Shaw was in Dunblane to distribute a poem he has written for the tennis star.

Stef, an amateur poet who writes under the name Glasgow Cabbie, had a great day in the town and his poem is now being sent to Andy after a friend contacted Judy Murray on Twitter.

He said:“First stop was Cromlix House Hotel, where I was enthusiastically greeted by hotel staff and chatted to hotel manager, Graeme Greene. I left some copies of what has become one of my most popular poems.

“Next stop was Dunblane after Graeme advised me to drop a copy into the Dunblane Museum. I took that advice and chatted to some locals at the museum who seemed very impressed by my work.

“A former school teacher in the area, Kay Gordon, kindly offered to do my distribution work for me, which was great as she would know the area and those who would appreciate a copy of this popular poem far better than I would.”

Stef is a big Andy Murray fan and described him as Scotland’s greatest sportsman.

“What Andy has achieved in his profession and during an era of supreme tennis players in 2016 was nothing short of phenomenal and the man from Dunblane has put Scotland firmly on the map,”said Stef.

“I’m aware that Andy is a patriotic Scotsman and a big family man, so it was important to show this in the poem.”
