Legendary JJ plays Stirling

-

Music legend JJ Gilmour is returning to Stirling this month.

He will be appearing at Mediterranéa in Viewfield Place on January 28 at 8pm.

JJ is the former front man of internationally renowned Scottish band The Silencers, and returns to Stirling following wonderful gigs at the Tolbooth and Thornhill’s HillGigs in the past three years.

One of Scotland’s top performers comes to one of Stirling’s best event spaces as part of his tour to launch is wonderful new album DiX.

JJ made his recording debut in 1989 with The Silencers, one of Scotland’s top bands who enjoyed huge success throughout Europe. A naturally gifted musician, (in his youth, JJ came very close to a career in classical music as a tenor) he first joined the band as a backing vocalist though later in the bands career JJ progressed seamlessly to lead vocalist.

Seven action-packed years of gigging and recording ensued during which The Silencers had gold albums, sold over half a million records for BMG/RCA, headlined major rock festivals and were regulars on hit TV shows across Europe.

JJ’s solo career has seen him launch four albums, bring to fruition a musical based on the life of George Best (Dancing Shoes) and write for The Titanic Boys launched at Belfast Opera House in 2012. His latest album, DiX, is 10 songs of simply vocals, piano, strings and uilleann pipe. DiX was released in November 2016.

JJ will play with fellow former Silencers keyboard maestro, and Stirling resident, Phil Kane.
