CLOSURES ON THE M9

Two weeks of roadworks

- Gareth Jones

Major resurfacing work is to be carried out on the M9 over the next fortnight.

Works on the motorway will start tonight (Wednesday), with the route closing overnight.

Resurfacing work will take place on the northbound M9 Junction 9 Craigforth to Junction 10 from 8pm to 6am, each night, until Saturday (January 21).

The scheme requires full closures of the carriageway between Junctions 9 and 10 on each of these three nights.

In addition, the Junction 10 northbound off slip road will also be closed while the work is taking place.

The slip road will also be closed on Saturday January 21 from 8pm to 6am. A signed diversion route will be in operation.

And this will be followed by a similar scheme on a southbound section of the road next week.

The work will take place on the southbound M9 at Junction 10 to Torbrex between 8pm and 6am each night from Friday January 27 until Monday January 30.

The work will be undertaken using a contraflow system.

The Junction 10 southbound on slip road will be closed, with traffic being diverted onto the northbound carriageway.

Vehicles will then travel north to Junction 11, where they will be turned around to re-join the southbound M9.

Trunk roads operators Amey say the scheme which will cost around £683,000 to carry out - will benefit around 22,000 road users who travel this stretch of the M9 by reducing future maintenance and improving journey time reliability.

Road users are being advised to plan their journeys ahead to consider these roadworks.
