BB news There are a few tickets left for the BB Burns Supper which will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 7.30pm in the Cathedral Hall. Tickets, which include a three-course meal, are £10 and are available by calling or e-mailing using the details above. Entertainm­ent - music, poetry and speeches - will be provided entirely by the BB boys, who will also be helping to prepare the meal. Donations of prizes for the raffle will be gratefully received. Cathedral Arts Guild On Sunday, January 22 at 3pm in the Cathedral Hall, Dick Lee’s Swingtet, featuring clarinet, guitars, bass and vocals, will give January a swinging start with the music of Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, Benny Goodman and Co. St Mary’s Episcopal Church The coffee morning last Saturday in the cathedral halls raised £820 for Christian Aid. There will be a Youth Night in the church hall on Saturday, January 21 for P7 upwards at 6.30pm. There will be services at 8.30am and 10.30am on Sunday with coffee and tea after the later service. There is an ecumenical quiet day on Saturday, February 4 in St Mary’s Hall. Craft group meets in the committee room at 2pm on Monday, January 23. SNP Burns Supper Dunblane branch has a star-studded line-up of speakers and performers for the annual Burns Supper in the Victoria Hall on Saturday, January 28. The Toast to Scotland will be proposed by Depute First Minister John Swinney, while Billy Kay, renowned writer and broadcaste­r on Scots history and language, will propose the Immortal Memory. Gregor Wood will bring his unique rendition of ‘Holy Willie’s Prayer’; and two members of the Westminste­r Parliament, John Nicolson, MP for East Dunbartons­hire, and Hannah Bardell, MP for Livingston, will cross swords in the battle of words and wits that is the Toast to the Lassies and the Reply. Gareth Perrie has assembled a talented group of musicians to maintain the high reputation of the Dunblane SNP Burns Supper for good singing, as well as for good food and good speakers.
