Attacked her partner after family party

Violent bust-up in village street

- Court reporter

An Essex girl rugby tackled her boyfriend and punched him in the face after a family party, a court heard.

Autumn Hollis appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court this week for sentencing.

The 22-year-old had pleaded guilty to assaulting her ex-partner in Stirling Road, Fallin, twice on November 13.

On Wednesday the court heard that Hollis, of Chelmsford, had been at an engagement party in Fallin with her boyfriend, his sister and father.

Fiscal depute Jennifer Harkins said the group had been drinking and an argument started on their way back to the family’s home.

“A neighbour of the accused’s boyfriend saw the accused standing in the middle of the road shouting at the man,” she said.

“They stopped the car and tried to get him into the car but he kept walking away.

“The accused was then seen to scream at him, run at him, kick him and rugby tackle him, causing him to fall on the grass. The accused then ran off.”

The group returned to the house but Hollis again attacked the man, punching him on the face.

Defending, Frazer McCready said that the pair had been in a relationship for a period of time, which had now ended.

He said: “For what it is worth, she has no intention to return to this area or indeed Scotland.”

He said an argument occurred between the couple and that Hollis had been upset that her suitcase had been damaged and her clothing scattered over the street.

The court heard that Hollis had no plans to contact her ex-partner but this may be complicated as she is pregnant with his child.

Sheriff Wylie Robertson sentenced Hollis to a 15-month community payback order with supervision.

He said reports had shown that she had a developing pattern of becoming abusive towards people she was in a relationship with and that she had to address this.

She has no intention to return to this area or Scotland
