Calves (10) sold to £170 for a Beef Bull Calf from W Owen, Muirpark, Stirling. Black and White Bull Calves averaged £46, selling to £59 from G W Paterson, Barbeath, Cumbernauld. On Tuesday, January 17, Caledonian had forward 2460 prime hoggets, ewes and tups. Overall sale average for 2045 sold was 162.6p (-2.6ppkg on the week).
Top price of the day went to a lamb donated for Orchid Testicular Cancer Awareness at £100, purchased by A Argo, North Burn, Lockerbie. Top price per kilo went to Doune Farms, West Lundie, Doune at 198ppkg for a pen of five Beltex x lambs at 46kg.
