Car enthusiasts honour the Bard
More than 20 classic cars were on show outside a popular city pub last week as Stirling and District Classic Car Club held a special Burns Supper.
A number of drivers and their navigators made their way to The Birds and Bees in Causewayhead fresh from being flagged-off at the start of the Monte Carlo Historic Rally on Wednesday evening.
While many of 80 drivers who jumped behind the wheel at the Paisley Abbey start-line were destined for the south of France – a number of others instead set off for Stirling with their sights firmly set on a dish of haggis and some Scots poetry.
The heritage run, which covered 56-miles of A and B roads, required navigators and drivers to cross the Erskine Bridge before negotiating Drymen, Strathblane, Blanefield, Killearn, Balfron, Kippen, Doune and Bridge of Allan before arriving at The Birds and Bees.
Phil Cavanagh of Stirling and District Classic Car Club said:“The whole night was great and we would like to thank everyone who took part.”
The event was organised by the car club in partnership with Douglas Park MINI Stirling and, on their arrival, participants were awarded finisher medals while Mr and Mrs Pisaneschi, the owners of a 1950 MGTD sports car, were awarded the trophy for best car.
The car club are now looking forward to their charity event at the Strathallan Games Park in Bridge of Allan on Sunday May 14.
