Historic house to host tribute to the Bard

-

Tickets are still available for a Burns night which is taking place at Bannockburn House this week.

An Evening with the Bard will be held in the historic grade-A listed building on Friday night with guests treated to songs, poetry and live music along with a traditional Burns supper.

The event has been organised to both raise funds for the Bannockburn House Trust and demonstrate the value of the 17th century house when it comes to hosting community events.

The Trust are currently pursuing ambitious plans to purchase and redevelop the house, which was once lived in by Bonnie Prince Charlie, and surrounding land for use by the community.

They hope to have their application for stage two funding completed by the end of March.

Bannockburn councillor Alasdair MacPherson believes the Burns evening is sure to be a success.

He said:“This event is very important for our stage 2 funding bid to The Scottish Land Fund for the community buyout.

“The ticket price includes free transport to Bannockburn House, haggis and stovies, recitations of Burns and great music from Dave Cantwell and Brina and Kieran Murray who have just performed at Celtic Connections.”

Tickets for the evening are £10 – and this includes soup, stovies and haggis although it is a bring your own bottle event as there is no alcohol licence. Transport will leave Bannockburn Community Centre at 7pm and return at 11.30pm.
