Praisefor Stirling nursery

-

The quality of care and support at a Stirling nursery has been praised following an unannounced inspection.

Castleview Nursery at Raploch Community Campus provides specialist education for children with additional support needs.

And inspectors found that staff provided ‘high-quality support’ to meet the needs of individual children – with youngsters participating in therapeutic and educational experiences such as hydrotherapy sessions, music activities and sensory-based learning activities.

The report also found that the close working partnerships with parents and visiting specialists benefitted the children.

Staff were said to routinely monitor the children’s progress and celebrate their achievements while parents are kept well-informed and involved in their child’s development.

By way of possible improvements, Castleview were encouraged to raise the profile and engagement of the parent council and the head teacher was urged to maintain and develop links with similar services elsewhere.

Inspectors also found that one of the changing tables had only one side rail and staff are encouraged to replace this.

However, the overall report was positive and nursery head Donna Wheater insists this highlights the good work done by her staff.

She said: “I am very proud of the continuing hard work and dedication shown by our staff which ensures children attending Castleview receive the best quality educational experiences, expertly tailored to their needs.”

Stirling Council education convenor Alistair Berrill added: “All the staff at Castleview Nursery are to be commended for this report from the Care Inspectorate.

“The children at the nursery are clearly being very well looked after by dedicated staff.”
