DAVE’S PROUD OF BATTLING BINOS

But there’s still‘an awful lot to work on’

Stirling Albion boss Dave Mackay praised his side for fighting back to claim a 2-2 draw with Berwick Rangers at Forthbank on Saturday but admits they were fortunate still to be in the game.

John Coughlin’s side were two goals in front going into the last few minutes but trialist Aiden Malone pulled one back and Sean Dickson grabbed the equaliser with a fine finish.

It earned Albion a crucial point in the battle for SPFL survival but they will need a much better performance against secondplaced Arbroath at Gayfield on Saturday.

Mackay said: “It’s amazing how much a goal can change games. It’s happened to us in the very recent past in that when we concede one we look very vulnerable and Berwick were a bit like that when we scored but on the flip side they could have been out of sight before we got our first one.

“There are still a lot of negatives there but we have to take the positives – we came out in the second half and did better. I asked them to give it everything they have got, try and win the second half and see where it takes us and credit to them because they did that.”

He added: “We have injuries and suspensions and everything seems to be going against us on that front at the moment. We had a bit of a patched-up team and the likes of Jack McCue and Ross McGeachie have not played for a long time.

“It also looks like a hamstring injury for Ross McMillan and Liam Caddis had a calf injury which is why he came off. They are mounting up but we’ll have Calvin Colquhoun available for Arbroath and Willie Robertson’s knee injury is not as bad as first feared – we need to be careful with him but the initial thought was about a month out.”
