Teenagers invited to football nights

-

Police officers have teamed up with Torbrex Community Council to launch new Friday night football sessions.

Youths from the St Ninians and Torbrex who are aged 11-15 can play at the Stirling High School pitches at 7pm on Friday evening.

Qualified football coaches will help police officers run the scheme.

The initiative has been running for two weeks.

Police said feedback from those involved and their parents has been positive.

Arrangements have been made to run the scheme tonight (Friday) and next Friday with a view to extending it further if it gathers enough support.

Sergeant Alasdair Matheson, who has been organising the sessions, said: “The thinking behind the scheme is to provide local boys and girls the opportunity to participate in football sessions on a Friday evening, thereby providing them with an interest and encourage engagement in physical activity.

“The sessions are taken by qualified coaches and will run between 7pm and 8pm on the football pitches at Stirling High School.

“It is aimed to have as many local children as possible attending and all in the age group of 11-15 are welcome.

“If parents have any queries on the scheme I can be contacted on 101.”
