SNP reveal candidates
The SNP have announced their candidates to contest the Forth and Endrick ward in Stirling Council’s May elections.
Graham Lambie, current Stirling SNP group spokesperson for education, and Ian Muirhead, a member of the council’s finance committee, will both be standing for re-election in the area.
Councillor Lambie grew up in the area and was first elected in 2007.
He said:“It has been a real privilege to have had the opportunity to represent many diverse communities of Forth and Endrick, and I am delighted to stand for re-election to the ward.
“It is not too much to ask that our roads be properly maintained and that our services be kept local – yet the overwhelming response on doorsteps is that Stirling Council has not done enough in recent years.
“I am passionate about supporting the educational opportunities that every child and young person has a right to receive, and I will work hard with my SNP colleagues to close the attainment gap in our schools if re-elected.”
Councillor Muirhead is a farmer based near Arnprior, who was first elected in 2012.
He said:“Being local to the area, I understand the many challenges that our rural communities face.
“That is why I have been involved in addressing a number of local issues, including securing the future of the B12 bus route that serves a number of local communities.
“For too long Forth and Endrick residents have been left behind by the current Stirling Council administration – local people pay their fair share and it’s important that they get a fair deal in return.
“If re-elected, I will continue to speak up for local people and local communities on Stirling Council by fighting for investment into rural services and infrastructure.”
