Boost for bus users

Extra services to Balfron and Aberfoyle coming

- Robert Fairnie

Bus services in the Stirling area are set to be boosted by a number of changes starting next week.

First Bus have announced that a new B9 Balfron Circular service will run via Killearn, Croftamie and Drymen, while there will be additional journeys to and from Aberfoyle on the B10 and C10.

This has been designed, after local consultation and feedback, to ensure improved connections with the 10A and B10 services to and from Glasgow.

A number of afternoon journeys have also been rescheduled to better serve pupils from Balfron High School who attend afterschool clubs.

A new timetable for the C11 tendered service between Aberfoyle and Stirling will also be introduced – with a schedule to meet feedback given by local people.

The changes, which will come into place as of Monday, follow a period of detailed consultation with key stakeholders including Stirling Council, community council and Balfron High School.

Paul McGowan, managing director at First Midland Bluebird, said: “We are pleased to be announcing these changes which are a result of lengthy discussions with a range of stakeholders and we are grateful for their input into this process.

“All of these changes are intended to enhance our services to a range of customers. For example, we worked closely with council officials to change bus times so that we could better support Balfron High School pupils who need access to after-school activities.

“We are also improving services to local towns, including, Killearn, Drymen and Aberfoyle, and connections to Glasgow-bound services.”
