Jailedfor throwing knives

-

A Stirling man who threw knives at a wall during a domestic bust up has been jailed.

Robert Cumming (34) from Keir Avenue appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Cumming was caged following a spate of domestic incidents that saw him damage the home and on one occasion included him throwing knives at a wall.

Fiscal depute, Lindsey Brooks told the court: “On January 3 the witness came back at 5.30pm. The accused was in the kitchen. There was an argument because the accused was intoxicated and had done no house work.

“He began to punch and kick doors and his partner shouted at him to leave. The witness did not contact the police.

“Some time later the accused re-entered and she asked him to leave and he refused and began to punch and kick doors and then she contacted the police.” When police arrived at the property Cumming told them: “We were just having a domestic and I went a bit mad.”

On January 28 Cumming became involved in another argument with his partner.

Ms Brooks said: “The accused had been drinking. He left at 1.30pm and returned at 4.30pm drunk.

“He was abusive towards the witness.

“He was angry and became more angry when the witness tried to calm him down.

“He threw knives at the walls. He also threw a chair and table.”

He threw the knives with such force that they broke.

The police were once again called and when they attended Cumming said “I know I’m going to jail”.

Officers noted that he had swollen knuckles and cuts to his hands.

Defence solicitor, Ken Dalling told the court how Cumming’s partner was keen to keep the relationship going on his release.

Mr Dalling added: “His behaviour has been directed towards property than a person and he pled guilty at the first opportunity.”

Sentencing, Sheriff Wyllie Robertson jailed Cumming for 14 months.
