Banned overdrink driving
A motorist who crashed into a railway bridge in Crianlarich while twice the drink drive limit has been banned from the roads.
Atila Henter (52) was found to have 113 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood while driving on Main Street, the A85, on September 27 last year. The legal limit is 50 microgrammes.
Stirling Sheriff Court heard this week how the Willow Square resident came to the attention of police officers after being observed striking the bridge.
Defence solicitor Ken Dalling said in mitigation: “He is originally from Hungary but has been here for the last three years. He has no previous convictions in the UK or in Hungary.
“He intends to stay in Crianlarich but is deeply ashamed by his actions. A period of disqualification will be of inconvenience to him.”
Sheriff William Gilchrist fined Henter a sum of £400 and disqualified him from driving for a period of 12 months – although this will be reduced by three months should he complete a drink driving rehabilitation course.
