Restaurant chain gives over £200k for charity

- Chris Marzella

Four Stirling charities are in line for a funding windfall after a big-hearted philanthropist donated £210,000 in profits from his restaurant group.

This is the second year that The Boozy Cow group, the concept developed by philanthropist Garreth Wood, has given away all of its profits, with almost half a million pounds being donated to date.

Boozy Cow said the profits generated by its Stirling venue, which opened in September, would be shared equally among the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund, PLUS Stirling, Start-Up Stirling and Stirling Carers Centre, with each charity receiving £12,500.

Boozy Cow owner Garreth said:“Our Stirling venue on King Street has been an outstanding success; a testament to our brilliant staff and customers. We’re very optimistic this year we can give away even more to charity.”

Gordon Brown from the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund, which seeks to build a respite home for children with cancer and their families, said:“When we heard we were chosen by Boozy Cow Stirling it was a huge boost to our charity, not only was the financial benefits a massive boost but it has also helped us spread the word on what we are trying to achieve.”

Garreth said the remainder of the £210,000 profits, raised by its Edinburgh and Aberdeen venues, would be shared among CHAS, the Archie Foundation, the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative, Edinburgh and the STV Children’s Appeal.
