Showing our love for mum

Why we think she’s the greatest

- Kaiya Marjoribanks

Children from across the area have been busy channelling their love for their mums through art thanks to the Stirling Observer/Thistles Draw Your Mum Competition 2017.

With all the entries now in, the judges now have the tough choice of picking out just one entry to claim the ultimate accolade.

In the lead up to Mothering Sunday this weekend, the Stirling Observer teamed up with The Thistles to offer an exclusive prize package for the winning mum. Pre-school and primary aged children were invited to submit their drawings of their mums along with a description of just why they felt she deserved to win.

Entries have come in from right across the area including Dunblane, Borestone, Kippen and Cambusbarron.

And the children of P5/6 at Aberfoyle Primary School submitted a bumper envelope of entries, some of which are featured here.

The winning mum’s VIP For A Day experience will include a £50 voucher for The Thistles, a Bobbi Brown makeover and gift box and lunch for two at Debenhams restaurant.

The winning young artist meanwhile will win a £50 Toys R Us gift voucher for their efforts.

As many of the competition entries as possible are being published in the Observer, but all of those plus any which didn’t make the pages of your favourite local newspaper can still be found on display in The Thistles shopping centre.

The competition winner will be notified before Sunday and arrangements will be made to claim their prize at some point after Mother’s Day and for the winner and their child to be photographed for a future edition of the Stirling Observer.

In the meantime, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there. You are all winners in our eyes!
