Cappuccino Chatter Meet in the church house on Wednesdays, 10.3011.30am. Used stamps Heather Dunlop, 10 Oakwood, collects used stamps to aid a charity for the blind. Leave a narrow margin of paper round the stamps and hand them to Heather or leave them for her in McNicoll’s. Daffodil Tea All parents, families and friends are welcome at the open afternoon in the primary school from 1.30-3pm on Thursday, March 30. Former pupils are particular­ly welcome from 4-5pm. Lenten Walk The fourth Lenten Walk takes place tomorrow (Saturday), meeting at the car park in Milton Forest, Loch Ard Road, Aberfoyle at 10am. Well behaved dogs on leads may come. All welcome. Coffee morning The Guild thanks all who contribute­d to the coffee morning/monetary gift day last Saturday when £544.35 was raised. Copies of the quiz are available in McNicoll’s shop. Church On Sunday at 11.15am Rev Ellen Larson Davidson will conduct a family service for Mothering Sunday with a baptism. Solar Pumps Recently, the Guild had a talk on the need for solar pumps to assist with irrigation in Northern Malawi. Members of the congregati­on are invited to contribute to this project during Lent by placing pound coins in the special boards which will be available at each entrance to the church on Sundays. WI news At the monthly meeting in the Reading Room last week everyone enjoyed artisan Eric Lewis as he described the wood and other crafts he had made in his splendid display. He was joined by Gary who brought wonderful driftwood sculptures and demonstrat­ed his craft. Hearty applause followed Marjory Stirling’s vote of thanks. Mora Adam presided and voting papers were distribute­d to be returned at the April meeting. Winners of the silver brooch competitio­n were: 1 Fiona Clark, 2 Margaret MacDougall, 3 Marjory Stirling. Thanks go to Kippen’s team at the Ruralympic­s in Bridge of Allan last Saturday, Moira Turner, Margaret MacDougall, Betty McAllister and Marjory Stirling were fourth, missing the bronze by one point. Two teams compete in the Federation Quiz in Cumbernaul­d on Monday, MArch 27. Reading Room All welcome to attend the AGM of the Reading Room on Tuesday, March 28 at 7.30pm. Accolade Good to see that The Times newspaper last week included Kippen in its list of the 20 best villages in Britain. Also a pleasure to read its short commendati­on and it will be interestin­g to see how it might affect the village in future.

Councillor’s surgery Councillor Alastair Berrill will be in the Village Club on Monday, April 3 at 7pm. Playgroup For over-twos, Tuesdays 9.45-11.45am, Fridays 9.30am-noon, term time in the community hall. Norrieston Church Sunday worship will be conducted by the minister, Rev Ellen Larsen Davidson at 10am. Visitors welcome. The fourth Lenten Walk tomorrow (Saturday) will be led by members of Aberfoyle Parish Church and will start from Milton Forest car park at 10am. Tea and coffee will be served afterwards in Aberfoyle Church Hall. Gardening Society The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 11 in the church hall when Mr John Jack will talk about growing dahlias. Nonmembers are welcome to attend. Tea’n Chat The populatr monthly event returns on Wednesday, March 29 from 10–1pm at the community hall. Teas, coffees home baking, toasties and soup will be on offer.
