Thrash rockers have album release in sights

-

A group of Stirling lads are looking to thrash their way to the top.

Serenity Came Calling have been making waves on the Scottish heavy music scene and rising to popularity across the UK.

The band were formed around a year ago and have a debut album lined up for the end of the year.

The five-piece completed their first tour of Scotland in February after the release of their EP “By Any Means”.

“We had our first band practice on February 11 of last year, and played our first show on April 19,” said frontman Gregor MacMillan.

“We are really happy with how things are progressing over the first year. We have hit the ground running with the connections we have.

“I work on the scene as a promoter, and we have been having chats with different record labels. We have had a good start and things are beginning to blow up now.”

After having great success on their tour, Serenity Came Calling have been putting in the hard graft to push forward and reach new levels with their sights set on two UK tours in June and August supporting British metalcore heavyweights On Hollow Ground and Scream Blue Murder.

The group consists of Gregor, Peter Dodd, Ross Dickson McKnight, Tyler Simpson and Jason Kelly.

Gregor said: “Stirling is where we’re all from and it’s where we’re proud to be from. People don’t always recognise Stirling but the talent here is insane! With initiatives like Pump Up The Jam at the Tolbooth and places to practice like Good Vibrations, there’s no reason why Stirling can’t be a competitor on this scene. I remember the days where The Rock put on shows weekly for heavy bands like us. We want to bring that back. It is coming back, the Stirling scene just needs its strength back. We’re all just young lads from an awesome city and we have a point to prove. We love what we do and we’re taking Stirling with us no matter where we go.”

As well as tour dates, the band are recording their first album, which is set to be released before the end of the year.

“We are recording just now,” said Gregor.

“We are also filming a music video at the Bunker in Bonnybridge. We like making use of local stuff, we could have done it down south but wanted it to be up here.”
