Man smashed phone in row

Ordered to stay away from girlfriend

- Court reporter

A Raploch man smashed a mobile phone off a wall during a drunken outburst.

Sean Dougall (24) behaved in a threatening and abusive manner at a house in Polmaise Avenue, Stirling, on March 11.

Stirling Sheriff Court heard last week that at around 6pm Dougall, of Fisher Row, went to the house with Elizabeth MacLean, his girlfriend of three days.

They were there to see one of her friends.

He had been drinking through the day but Ms MacLean had not.

Fiscal depute Adrian Fraser said Ms MacLean was in the bathroom when she heard Dougall and her friend arguing. She went into the living room and the accused was shouting and swearing.

Mr Fraser added: “He then started to argue with the complainer, saying she had to pick him over her friends.

“She said no and the accused picked up a phone belonging to the witness and threw it at a wall, damaging it.”

Dougall then shouted at his girlfriend about giving him money he felt she owed. She told him she had already given him his £20 and at this point he left. Police were then contacted.

Sheriff William Gilchrist called for background reports on Dougall, who will be sentenced later this month.

Special bail conditions ban Dougall from Polmaise Avenue and Cultenhove Road. He must not contact Ms McLean or her friend.
