Kids flock to camp

- Donald Morton

Bridge of Allan Sports Club’s Easter camp has provided youngsters with the opportunity to enjoy a string of different sports under the supervision of two of Central Scotland’s top coaches.

The camp has been on at Minewood Pavilion over the Easter holidays with the club’s head squash coach Jane Martin, a former world No 8, running the show in week one and head tennis coach Sam MacNeill calling the shots in week two.

As well as providing lots of fun-filled activities that centre around tennis and squash almost 40 kids from all over Stirling have enjoyed trying their hands at hockey, football, racketball, table tennis and even Swedish longball.

Jane, a former England internationalist, was delighted with a busy first week.

She said: “We had around 20 kids joining us from 9am to 3pm every day and trying out a whole variety of sports, making new friends and just enjoying the opportunity to enjoy healthy sporting activity both inside and outside at Minewood.

“Following on from the success of last summer’s camp it has also been great to welcome back some familiar young faces and I am delighted to say that the summer camp will be back on for four weeks over the summer holidays.

“The other great thing about the camp is that we have kids of all ages, from 10 to 18 years old, mixing in a fun-filled environment and when you add in a bit of sunshine that is just a great mix.”
