Hill rescue after woman is stranded with twisted ankle

-

A walker had to be rescued by police and Killin Mountain Rescue after she picked up an injury on Cruach Ardrain near Crianlarich.

The woman, who had been out hiking with another walker, became stranded at around 5.30pm on Tuesday April 18 after she twisted her ankle and was unable to get down.

She was able to use her map and compass on the hill to help fix her location and was talked into a safe place by PC Craig Murray, a Rescue team member, whilst police and the mountain rescue team were deployed.

They eventually tracked the pair down and she was brought down from the hill safely.

Bill Rose from Killin Mountain Rescue said:“Something like twisting an ankle on an uneven surface can make it very difficult to walk. Luckily she was quite far down the hill when it happened.

“With excellent local knowledge we traced the casualty quickly and she was assisted off the hill. We wish her a speedy recovery.”
