Stirling area has seen an increase in tourism in the last year.
New figures have revealed attendance at visitor attractions in Scotland are up nearly 16 per cent on last year.
The figures, published by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA), include Stirling Castle as the top attraction outside of Glasgow and Edinburgh, attracting over 480,000 visitors in the year.
Stirling MP, Steven Paterson has previously run a consultation on the effect of a VAT reduction on tourism with hundreds of businesses in the Stirling constituency.
Mr Paterson said:“These latest figures show Scotland’s tourism sector has had a record year, with many attractions in my constituency enjoying increased footfall.
“The Stirling constituency offers a unique experience for tourists and the sector plays a huge part in the economy of the area.
“I hope that the tourism sector in the constituency can continue to grow, welcoming even greater numbers to our many wonderful attractions as the season kicks off this year.”
