Council director leaves top job
A top Stirling Council officer last week tendered her intention to resign from the authority after less than three years in her post.
Stacey Burlet earned more than £91,000-a-year as the council’s director of children, communities and enterprise.
Ms Burlet joined the council in October, 2014, as director of communities and partnerships following a re-structure of senior management.
Five heads of service were replaced by four departmental directors in a shake-up that cost the council £1 million in golden handshakes but was expected to save £100,000 a year in salaries.
Council chief executive Stewart Carruth said Ms Burlet, who joined Stirling Council after working in the North-East of England, was “leaving to pursue other opportunities”. He added: “Since she joined the council in 2014, she has been a tremendous asset, a valued colleague and a constant champion for Stirling, its people and its communities.” He added: “Stacey was instrumental in the delivery of our historic City Region Deal and she will continue to work on this once-in-a-generation opportunity until her departure in the summer.”
In an email to staff on April 13 announcing that she was moving on, Ms Burlet said: “It has been my absolute privilege to work with you all and your teams for Stirling communities. That is because Stirling is brilliant, with so many people who invest time and commitment in making things better for the future and for others in their communities.”
With campaigning for the council elections currently underway, it’s not yet clear whether the authority will seek an interim replacement from within or advertise the post.
