SusanMcGill (SNP)
Susan has been been active within local communities for a number of years seeking to ensure the views of the community are heard, most recently leading the Save Gillies Hill campaign, preventing the reactivation of Murrayshall Quarry in Cambusbarron.
“I have worked in the NHS for 38 years as a registered nurse, midwife and now as health visitor. The qualities and skills I use on a daily basis in my current role - leadership, communication, problem solving and dedicated compassion - are essential to the role of a local councillor.
“I am a member of the SNP as I believe in a socially just society where all members of society live a fulfilling and prosperous life.
“The austerity agenda being pushed upon us by an out-of-touch Tory UK Government targets the working poor, the disabled, the less able and the unemployed - making a stressful time significantly harder. I believe this should not be the way society functions; a society only succeeds when we all prosper.
“If elected I will work to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective front line services.
“The outgoing Labour/Tory coalition Administration have taken deeply damaging decisions over the past five years, including unnecessarily cutting the social care budget - which makes is significantly more difficult to provide the comprehensive service that the most vulnerable people in our communities need.”
