Brigade parades a year of success

Boys from across area march and worship

- Donald Morton

More than 200 members of the Boys’ Brigade across Stirling and Clackmannanshire came together on Sunday to mark a year of achievements.

Bridge of Allan was the venue for this year’s Stirling and District Battalion Parade where the boys marched along Henderson Street watched by an appreciative audience.

Led by the 24-strong band of 25th Stirling (Dunblane) BB, the boys and their officers showed off their uniforms and badges with pride.

At Bridge of Allan Parish Church, the boys enjoyed a slideshow capturing many moments from the past year of BB activities in the area’s seven companies across. Minister Rev Dan Harper and Jean Porter, Battalion Chaplain and Deaconess at St Mark’s Parish Church, led an interactive worship with the help of the boys.

The William Muir Trophy was presented to winners 36th Stirling (Clackmannan). The competition involved boys of all ages working on tasks in their own companies related to the Biblical story of Joseph and his brothers. It focused on issues as diverse as family, bullying, Ancient Egyptian culture, and human trafficking.

The battalion welcomed Steven Paterson MP, Keith Brown MSP, Alexander Stewart MSP (Battalion President) and Stirling Provost Mike Robbins, as well as Brigade UK Vice-President Alistair Burrow and the Lord Lieutenant for Stirling and Falkirk Alan Simpson OBE.
