- Gareth Jones

A Callander store has been given a makeover.

The Edinburgh Woollen Mill is hosting an opening day extravaganza tomorrow (Saturday) to celebrate its new-look store on the town’s Main Street.

From 9am, staff will greet the first 20 customers to make a purchase at the store with a goody bag .The team will also mark the occasion with an in-store competition, rewarding 20 lucky visitors with a prize. The first visitors to find the envelopes hidden around the store will walk away with an Edinburgh Woollen Mill voucher to spend in store.

Catriona Simpson, area manager, said: “We’re excited to unveil our new-look shopping experience in Callander. We have invested in lighting, flooring, fixtures and fitting, creating the perfect setting to showcase our summer collections to our customers.

“We would like to welcome customers old and new to enjoy our special opening day celebrations with us.”

Edinburgh Woollen Mill has had a presence in Callander for many years and townsfolk hope this latest investment is further proof that the Main Street is bouncing back after a tough few years.

A crisis meeting was called in December 2015 after news that four stores - the Edinburgh Woollen Mill at 7 Main Street, The Trossachs Country Store, The Golf Shop and James Pringle Weavers - were all facing closure.

Since then, business organisations have been working together to help boost trade in the town and to ensure that tourists continue to flock to the area.
