Have your say on plans to revamp city centre

-

Plans for a revamp of Stirling city centre are to be subject of a consultation – but those wishing to contribute will have to be quick.

We reported in March that Stirling Council had progressed to the final stage of the multi-million pound active travel competition, Community Links PLUS.

The authority’s City Boulevard and Cowane Street active travel design impressed the competition panel with their plans to deliver new infrastructure across Stirling.

Now the bid will move to the final stage, after it received up to £40,000 of funding to develop the proposal, with the aim of securing multi-million pound funding to fund the project.

On Saturday, the council announced that it will hold three consultation events this week on the plans.

A spokesperson said:“Our proposal is to improve the walking and cycling routes from the city centre to Castleview Park and Ride/Forth Valley College, and from the city centre to the University of Stirling.

“This is part of our wider strategy for improving both walking and cycling links and experience throughout our city. We would like to share our ideas so far and invite your input and comment on how we might be able to improve our proposals before we submit detailed plans.

“We will be running drop-in sessions at the following times and locations this week which everyone is welcome to attend: “The events take place today (Wednesday) at the Cowane Centre (1pm to 6pm), tomorrow (Thursday) at Stirling University from 1pm to 6pm and from 1.30pm to 5pm at the Stirling Smith Art Gallery on Friday.

The council has said that officers will be present at each of these sessions to answer any questions about the plans and to take ideas and comments.

Anyone who requires more information or who would like to comment on the plans can email communications@stirling. gov.uk
