Eight local schools are picked for award finals

-

Eight Stirling schools have been selected as finalists in a number of categories in this year’s Scottish Education Awards.

The Stirling Council area has the highest number of any schools selected of any local authority in Scotland.

Stirling Council’s Chief Education Officer, Kevin Kelman, said: “It is fantastic to see eight of our schools and nurseries shortlisted as finalists across four categories.

“This reflects the achievements of Stirling’s children and young people, and the dedication and commitment of our staff. Stirling’s success in these awards demonstrates the range of innovation in our schools and nurseries, and allows these achievements to be recognised nationally.”

Stirling High is a finalist for the `Learning Through Technology’ award and Fallin Primary for the `Raising Attainment in Literacy’ award.

Both Braehead and Doune Primary schools are finalists for `Making Languages Come Alive (Primary)’ award.

It’s a clean sweep in the `Learning for Sustainability’ category as all three entries are from the Stirling area – Kincardine-in Menteith Primary, Fintry and Buchlyvie Primary schools (a joint entry) and Cornton Nursery.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Glasgow on Wednesday June 7.
