Classic beauties are big attraction
13th annual show
Car enthusiasts made their way to Bridge of Allan to catch a glimpse of a range of classic motors.
Stirling & District Classic Car Club held their 13th Annual Charity Classic Car Show in the town on Sunday (May 14).
This year’s chosen charities are the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund, Driving Force and Trossachs Mobility.
The cloud lifted and the sun shone as the vehicle exhibitors arrived together with a large variety of traders and the show opened to the public at 11am.
Around 650 classic vehicles, mostly cars, were on display and there was also a number of motor bikes and commercial vehicles.
As in previous years the show was sponsored by Douglas Park MINI in Stirling. They put up the raffle prize of a Mini for the weekend and an overnight stay in a hotel. The prize was won by a lady from Bridge of Allan.
The show also had one of its members, Gordon Best, displaying his 56-year-old Rover 100 which completed this year’s Monte Carlo Rally in aid of Strathcarron Hospice and the Beatson Cancer Charity.
Starting from the show was another club member, Alan Biggar, who is undertaking a two-week tour of Scotland raising funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. He will be doing this in his 60-year-old Morgan +4 and his travels will take in twelve ferry journeys in the open-topped car.
This year’s show winner is a 1923 Crossley owned by Thomas Ritchie with the runner up being a 1970 Morgan +8 owned by David Scott. The best club stand was won by the Jaguar Drivers Club.
Club chairman Phil Cavanagh said: “The club would like to thank all the local businesses who supported the show together with all the attendees who made the effort to support our charitable giving. The feedback has been fantastic so we hope for another successful show in 2018.”
