Stirling Marathon The school has managed to secure a section of the marathon course which will be a Stirling High School cheer zone. If you have family or friends running the marathon or want to cheer on Mr Sneddon as he makes his way, come along. Bring family, friends and something to make lots of noise. S3 pupils While the seniors are on study leave, Mrs Adam, school careers adviser, will be meeting with some S3 pupils. If you would like to have a short careers chat please let your form teacher know, or email Mrs Adam on Alison.adam@sds.co.uk to arrange a time. Dyslexia Pupil Group The next dyslexia pupil group meeting is planned for Monday, May 22 during PSE. If any pupil wants to contribute or wants to raise any particular issues/share good ideas please get in touch with Mr Mullin or Mrs Edwards. Activity Days All S1-3 parents have been sent a text to confirm which activity their child is doing on Friday, June 2. | This informatio­n has been added to Parentpay also. Payments can be made either through Parentpay/ cheque (payable to the school) or cash. The deadline for full payment is Wednesday, May 24. Exams 2017 All S4-6 pupils who are entitled to exam leave, are sitting exams or require to be in school at any time during exam leave must have full school uniform on at all times. Pupils who are not sitting an exam and wish access to the school must sign in and sign out at the school office and be wearing full school uniform. Mobile phones are prohibited in the exam room and must be put into your locker or left at home. Please do not ask a member of school staff or invigilati­on staff to look after your phone during your exam. S6 Locker Deposits Pupils can hand their locker keys into the school office once they have sat their finals exam. Please make sure your locker has been emptied and is clean. Locker keys must be returned attached to a keyring, the £15 deposit will then be given to pupils. Locker keys must have be handed down to younger siblings. EMA applicatio­n forms EMA Applicatio­n forms for next session 2017/18 are being updated at the moment – pupils and parents/carers will be informed once the school has taken receipt of these from Stirling Council. Diary dates Friday, May 19 – S1 Reports home via school bag mail; Monday, May 29 – New timetable begins for new S2-4; Friday, June 2 – Activity Day for all S1-3 pupils and study leave ends; Monday, June 5 – New timetable begins for new S5-6; Tuesday, June 6 – Junior Prizegivin­g from 7.15pm; Monday, June 12 – S4 Week 1 Work Experience; Monday, June 19 – S4 Week 2 Work Experience; June 21-23 - P7 induction days; Friday, June 30 – end of term. Let the Children Live S1 pupils were delighted to welcome George McAleenan from the charity ‘Let the Children Live’ on Thursday, May 12. Over the course of the year, S1 have been raising money for this charity that helps street children in Columbia. S1 held a sponsored silence, Easter raffles, Sponge the Teacher event and a bake sale to raise £1555.33. Mr McAleenan expressed his gratitude after a special year group Mass and explained that the money raised would go to help these children, known as the “disposable ones” who live on the streets in Columbia. Sponsored Head Shave S1 class 1K1 are presently raising money for Let the Children Live, so their teacher Dr Pepper thought that she would help too with a sponsored head shave! They are aiming to raise £750 by June 21 and Dr Pepper will have her head shaved on this day. “Losing my hair is nothing compared to what the children supported by this charity go through,” said Dr Pepper. Art competitio­ns More than 40 students were selected to take part in the Royal Bank of Scotland/ RSA and the Tesco Bank Art competitio­ns. Tony Lang in S1 achieved a gold award in the RSA competitio­n while a number of art students took part in the ongoing Kelvingrov­e Art competitio­n. The Tesco competitio­n is currently being judged.
